Happy new year to everyone! After a wonderful month of spending time with family and friends, I am entering the final three months of medical school. In January and February I am at Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon,Georgia doing clinical rotations. For March I will be in Valdosta, Georgia doing Neurology, and yes, that means I am not going back to New York for any more rotations (yay!).
In March, all of the other thousands of residency applicants and myself will find out if we matched with a residency and where and what field we will be doing. I am not going to bore you with the complexity of this entire process. In the mean time I am going to enjoy these last months in Georgia hoping that the weather will finally get back to normal. I came back to Georgia to finally get nice weather, and Mother Nature is cursing me!
I’m having a great time in Atlanta with family. Hope everyone is well and that the new year brings everyone a little bit of happiness.
The title of the post is just a sarcastic inside joke. lol Anyway, I immensely enjoyed a very brief trip to New York and am glad to be back at Dad’s house in warm Georgia. I have a lot of things to take care of this week including getting my room ready for visiting relatives during New Year’s Eve and studying again. I have a trip to Athens, Georgia planned for the weekend, which is extremely exciting for me since I haven’t been back there in over a year.
Being back in Georgia has been great! People are hospitable, the weather has been nice (even on rainy days), and family and friends are nearby. And this week is going to be a short three day week in Columbus and then I will spend the rest of the week in Atlanta with relatives. I even have tickets on the 50 yard line at next Sunday’s Falcons game (I have to find some way to forget about the miserable season my beloved Georgia bulldogs are having.).
Yep, it’s great to be back. This is certainly where I want to be for my internal medicine residency and practicing medicine soon thereafter.
I am back in Douglas Georgia after many hours of driving. I enjoyed spending last night in Atlanta at my sister’s house and I’ll be spending the week at Dad’s house in Douglas before I go to Columbus next week for my family medicine rotation. I enjoyed the scenery as I was driving. Seeing all the fields and horses and cows reminded me of home. I am just glad that I am no longer in New York.
I went to Connecticut yesterday to spend some time with some really great friends of mine. After a nice weekend I am entering the final week in New York. Next Saturday I will start my drive back home to Georgia. Just five more days.
Cold and rainy.
It is four degrees Celsius (almost 40 degrees Fahrenheit) and raining continuously now. Luckily the heat has been turned on at my place. Two more weeks and I am out of here.
Just got done with the first day of my four week stay in Staten Island. I must admit it felt a bit uneasy being in a new hospital where I knew no one and didn’t know where to go or what to do, kinda’ like the first day in a new school (brings back memories of my first day in high school).
I am sure things will be better as time goes. One good thing about today: I got a one month membership at a fitness center for $11. Thanks Planet Fitness!
I finally posted some of the the pictures I took in Chicago. In case you don’t want to click on the link in the sidebar, you can click here.
I am leaving Nassau University Medical Center by the end of the week. I have been in this hospital for more than one year (i.e. far too long). I am moving to Staten Island this Friday where I will spend one month before going back home.
