On 22. October 2005 my sister Anupama and Shailesh Kothari got married.
It was an awesome occasion filled with flowers, love, family, and
friends. The wedding took place at the Hindi Temple of Atlanta.
The reception was held at the Rennaisance Hotel in the southside
of Atlanta. These are just a few pictures of the ceremony and
reception.

A few days before the wedding there was a gathering at my uncle's house
in Atlanta. My father and sister had a lot of fun hanging out
with all of our relatives who flew from various locations around the
U.S., Germany, and India.

Myself, the morning of the wedding still at the hotel.

Shailesh is Gujurathi (sp?) so there is this tradition of the groom
riding on a white horse to the temple to receive his bride. It is
accompanied by dancing and celebrating. This is my Uncle Sarathy
Chithapa getting his groove on.

Inside the temple, my cousins and I carry a carriage with the bride
inside of it. Needless to say I was scared as hell that I would
drop my sister. Luckily, my cousins are big and strong and took
care of their duties.

The wedding ceremony

During this part of the ceremony, I have to hand rice to my sister and brother, and they have to toss the rice into the fire.

On the rooftop of the temple Anu and Shailesh finish the ceremony with the priest.
